Why are you angry?: limits and tantrums
Workshop leaders: Marta Ferrer i Olga Contreras
"Sow good ideas in children even if they do not understand them... The years will be responsible for deciphering them in their understanding and making them flourish in their hearts.”
Maria Montessori
-
Why do tantrums occur? Can they be prevented?
-
We want to set boundaries but don’t know how to do it or which ones?
-
We no longer want to say just say no. Are there any alternatives? Are we too demanding?
-
Are rewards and punishments good? How should we manage them?
-
Does not being able to get what they want frustrate them? If so, how can we act?
- Our patience and presence are key. How can we put it into practice in these situations?
- Do we need to encourage our children to express why they are angry? How do we do this?
- How do we show our children to face situations they do not like?
- As adults, we also need to communicate why we are angry and what we are feeling. Why?
- How can we find out what triggered the tantrum?
From the age of two, children have tantrums because they don’t yet have enough mechanisms to express themselves in another way. How one acts in the face of these episodes is essential, not only to prevent them from happening again, but also for them to become a resource for their emotional learning. The workshop focuses on one of the educational components of most concern to families, as they can often feel overwhelmed by these behaviours. This workshop aims to be a space for open dialogue where we can gain tools and resources that allow us to understand, manage and assess what may be the best way to deal with these moments.
Childcare service: childcare service is offered to those families who already come to the school. The schedule will be from 5pm to 6:30pm upon registration.
