Feeding for Life

“Teaching a child to feed themselves, clean themselves, dress themselves is a much longer, more difficult and patient task than them not feeding themselves, cleaning themselves and dressing themselves.” Maria Montessori

  • What is the best time to start introducing new foods?

  • When should we stop using the bottle?

  • What can we do if the child doesn’t want to eat a particular foodstuff?

  • Should I feed the child at a different time from the family?

  • How can we encourage autonomy at mealtimes?

  • Who should set the table? Who should serve?
  • How can we work towards having them help in the kitchen and all of us feeling comfortable and confident?
  • Minced, in pieces, whole or Baby Led Weaning (BLW)? How should we handle complementary feeding?
  • We are what we eat. Is a balanced and varied meal plan important?
  • From your adult kitchen to an adapted space for children. Is it possible to have a kitchen shared by several generations?

Eating is a basic necessity and something we have to do throughout our lives, therefore it is very important to establish a good relationship with food from early childhood. Parents, grandparents and education professionals play an essential role in this regard. In this workshop, we will deal with the process of learning eating habits in the first three years of life and understand how important it is, not only because it facilitates a good nutritional state and optimal growth, but also because it can help to consolidate the acquisition of healthy habits for adulthood.

This activity is carried out in Catalan.
